In short, if you want to make money from your TikTok videos, you have to be part of Creator Next. It’s TikTok’s program that helps creators monetize their content. Being part of Creator Next gives you access to either the Creator Fund, which pays creators for shorter content, or the Creativity Program for monetizing longer clips.

Whether you’re eligible for the schemes will depend on where you’re located, but as a minimum both require you to:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Have a minimum of 10,000 followers 
  • Have at least 10,000 views in the last 30 days

TikTok's algorithm loves videos that generate lots of likes, comments, and shares. Do everything you can to bump up your engagement and your content will be shared across people’s For You Page. Then it’s a simple case of piling up more views and earning more from your videos as a result.

The type of content you make 🦸

Your niche has a huge impact on your earnings, as it determines the brands and products that want to advertise alongside your content. Create popular content that entices high-paying advertisers and you’ll be onto a winner. The likes of tech reviews and make-up tutorials attract millions of views and, as a result, companies are willing to pay more to be seen alongside them.

How much does TikTok pay for 1,000 views?

With so many factors impacting your earnings, it’s clear there’s no simple answer to how much TikTok pays for a thousand views. TikTokers have shared that they typically earn anywhere between $0.01 and $1 for every 1,000 views. But this varies, and there’s a wide spectrum of earnings across the platform.

At the lower end of the scale, lots of creators are earning less than $0.05 for every thousand views. But in extremely rare cases, TikTokers have reported earnings as high as $2.50 per 1,000 views. This tends to be where the creator has a large existing audience and advertisers are willing to pay more to appear alongside the type of content they make.

So how does this compare with other platforms? You’ll find TikTok pays less than YouTube, where creators generally earn $1-$6 per 1,000 views. That’s because YouTube’s ad revenue scheme has been running much longer than TikTok’s, so it attracts more advertisers. In time there’s every chance TikTok could eventually start paying out similar amounts to its creators too.

When your videos are hitting a million views, it’s only natural to expect your earnings to keep up. We know that TikTok has a typical RPM of between $0.01-$0.05, so if that’s what we make for every thousand views, a million views is likely to earn $10 to $50.
