Question 1

What are motion graphics?

Accepted Answer

Motion graphics, also known as motion assets, are animated visual assets you can add to your videos – things like titles, transitions, overlays, and other moving elements that help bring your edit to life.
On Uppbeat, you'll come across two types of motion graphics:

Drag & drop assets: Simple video clips you can use straight away in most editing software.
Customizable templates: Editable project/template files made for specific software (like Premiere Pro/MOGRT, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve).

Question 2

How do I add motion graphics to my videos?

Accepted Answer

To add Uppbeat motion graphics to your videos, it depends on the type of asset you downloaded:

Drag & drop assets: Download the .mov/.mp4, import it into your editor like any video clip, then drag it onto your timeline. .mov files often include transparency; with .mp4, you may need to remove the background using blending modes.
Customizable templates: Download the .zip, extract it, then open/import the template from the "Assets" folder in the correct software (Premiere Pro/MOGRT, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve). The "Support" folder includes a tutorial and any template notes.

Question 3

Can I customize motion assets?

Accepted Answer

Yes – it depends on the type of motion asset you download. Some are ready-to-use clips, and others are customizable templates.

Drag & Drop assets: These are simple video files that work out of the box in most editors, but they're not designed to be customized beyond normal editing (like trimming, resizing, or changing blending modes).
Customizable templates: These are made to be edited (like changing text, colors, and animations), but they're software-specific. Uppbeat currently offers templates for Premiere Pro (including MOGRTs), After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve.

Question 4

What are Drag & Drop assets, and how do I use them?

Accepted Answer

Drag & Drop assets are simple, non-customizable video clips that work out of the box with almost all video editing software – you just import them and use them like any other clip in your timeline.
How our assets are packaged:

Single assets: Download as a direct .mov or .mp4 file.
Asset packs: Download as a .zip, with multiple files inside the "Assets" folder.

File types (and backgrounds)

.mov: Usually includes transparency (alpha), so your background shows through automatically.
.mp4: No transparency – if there's a solid background, you can remove it using blending modes (for example Screen for light backgrounds, Multiply for dark backgrounds).

How to use them

Import the file into your editor and place it on your timeline like any other video clip.

Question 5

Which software is compatible with Uppbeat motion assets?

Accepted Answer

Our motion assets come in two formats:

Drag & Drop assets work in almost all video editing software including CapCut, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Canva, and more!
Customizable templates are made for specific software – currently Premiere Pro (including MOGRTs), After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve (including macros).

Can I use Uppbeat motion graphic assets for commercial projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes – as long as you're on the right plan. Uppbeat motion assets are safe to use in online content (including monetized and sponsored videos).
For paid advertising and client or commercial work, freelancers and solo professionals need Uppbeat Pro, while companies, brands, and agencies need Uppbeat Business. Both include the extended license for those commercial uses.
